Mischa Barton has revealed her frustration that some of her films have been branded flops. The 23-year-old actress – who quit hit teen TV show The OC to pursue a movie career – has recently seen several of her films go straight to DVD or fold, due to problems with funding. Mischa said: “I seem to have had a strange run of luck with films that I felt were really cool.” She added: “Even the Shirley MacLaine film, Closing The Ring. That didn’t get a big release and not enough people saw it – in my opinion anyway. “And Assassination Of A High School President, which got really great reviews and was so well received at Sundance – that company went bankrupt. “It’s a bad time for film and I think it’s unfortunate that more people can’t see those performances of mine, because they don’t understand how hard I work as an actress.” Despite designing a handbag range, Mischa – who is about to star in a new fashion TV drama A Beautiful Life – insists acting will always come first. She said: “Acting will always be my work. Acting is my passion and it’s my therapy, it’s my release, it’s everything for me.”
