Mischa Barton told a U.S. magazine she was “happy and healthy” just days before she was reportedly placed in psychiatric care. Reports on Thursday (July 16) suggested the 23 year old had been placed on involuntary psychiatric hold after suffering a meltdown and calling cops to her Los Angeles home the day before. Los Angeles police and Barton’s representative have confirmed she required assistance for “a medical issue”, but have yet to reveal further details. The incident took place just a week after British magazine Heat printed unflattering images of her from a night out in London, describing her as “bloated” and “out of control”. Speaking to Life & Style after Heat hit news stands, Barton insisted she was “healthy and comfortable”. She said, “It does get cumbersome to have to address the same non-issues on a repeated basis. Fortunately, I’m healthy and comfortable in my own skin. “I’m happy. I wouldn’t change my body and I couldn’t anyway. The only way to be happy and be a more enjoyable person is to embrace what you’ve got.”
