When Fearne met Mischa

Fearne Cotton returns with her Fearne and… series tonight as she meets Hollywood starlet Mischa Barton. The TV presenter visits former OC star Mischa at her home in LA and goes driving about in her Cadillac. Fearne then visists the actress while she is in London and discovers that she was born in the city and her sister is a barrister there. As Fearne spends more time with Mischa, she starts to ask her about more sensitive subjects like her weight, which has been up and down over the last few years. To explain her choices of subjects for her show, Fearne said: “Each person I choose to follow around has to be someone I’m genuinely intrigued by. Someone I think people talk about a lot but maybe don’t know the whole story.” Fearne and Mischa Barton will be broadcast tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.

The first episode of the series sees Fearne meet Hollywood actress Mischa Barton. Mischa shot to fame with her role as Marissa in The OC back in 2003. She has rarely been seen on our screens since her character was killed in 2006 but the press are still fascinated with her, following and documenting her every move. Fearne sets out to discover what Mischa is doing now and why she causes such intrigue. She visits Mischa at her home in LA and goes out in her Cadillac with her and the actress explains that she is constantly living under the gaze of the paparazzi. Fearne also visits Mischa when she is in London and discovers that she was born in the city and her sister is a barrister there. Mischa tells Fearne: “Growing up in New York but having a very English family and background has really served me well, I think.” Fearne visits the office where Mischa designs her handbags and tries to find out about her night out the evening before with singer Amy Winehouse. The presenter also goes with Mischa to one of her London boltholes and gets to meet some of her friends. Plus, as Fearne spends more time with her, she starts to question her about more sensitive subjects like her weight, which has been a hot topic of debate in the press.

Mischa Barton has been sectioned. The former O.C. actress was taken to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by police on Wednesday (July 15), after being placed under a 5150 hold – a piece of US legislation which means she poses a danger to herself or others. Website ‘Access Hollywood’ reports: “A source close to the situation claimed that Barton was placed under Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code by police and transported to Cedars-Sinai.” The code states people can be forcibly held if they are deemed a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or have a mental disorder. Under its terms, people can be held for up to 72 hours. It is the piece of legislation which was used to hold Britney Spears after she suffered a breakdown in 2008. Mischa’s family are said to be deeply concerned about her and are in constant contact with the hospital. A source explained: “Her family had grown increasingly distressed over her erratic behaviour over the past several weeks. “Mischa had a very difficult time when she first arrived at Cedars, but now she is doing a little bit better.” Los Angeles police have not commented on the claims, but are unable to release details of people who are detained under the code. Mischa’s representative wouldn’t confirm or deny the reports, only saying: “Mischa has been hospitalised per the recommendation of her doctor and is resting in the hospital.” It was revealed on Thursday (July 16) the 23-year-old actress – who was due to attend the premiere for her new movie Homecoming last night – had been escorted from her home by police who were helping her with a “medical issue” on Wednesday. Officer April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has since said: “She has not been detained, she wasn’t arrested. There were no other individuals involved. We went to Mischa Barton’s home, for a medical issue that we are not at liberty to discuss. We were dispatched to her home and assisted her with her medical issue.”

Mischa Barton to attend Sundance Film Festival

Mischa Barton confirmed this morning in her interview that she will be attending the Sundance Film Festival for the premiere of “Assassination of a High School President”
The World Premiere will be on Wednesday, January 23rd followed by additional screenings on the 24th and 26th.
The film, in which Mischa Barton co-stars with Reece Danial Thompson and Bruce Willis, is the directorial debut for Brett Simon. It is a high school drama with a grown-up twist – students at 16 going on 30 and constant twists to the plot.

“Combining a keen sense of relief that no one can make you go back to high school with an equally strong desire to return and make all of the cool kids realize that there’s life past graduation, Assassination of a High School President deftly captures a new kind of grown-up teenage angst.”

Mischa Barton’s popular character teams up with the newspaper dork and, together investigating a case of stolen SAT exams, uncover a much larger conspiracy. Turns it all into the “high school from hell.”
Mischa Barton will celebrate her 22nd birthday on January 24 while in Sundance. She is quoted as saying she is not doing anything major for her birthday, but does want to go skiing.
