The former The O.C. star signed on to Ashton Kutcher’s modelling drama earlier this year, but the series was scrapped by U.S. network The CW in September after just two episodes, due to poor ratings. Now TV bosses are planning to resurrect the programme by airing the remaining shows next summer. A statement from show spokesman Paul MCGuire reads, “The status of unaired episodes has yet to be determined.”

Rumer, whose parents are Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, admits it’s really hard for young stars to not get sucked into the Hollywood lifestyle. “I do feel very sorry for Mischa Barton,” Rumer told Glamour magazine. “This whole world is very enticing. “When you start getting famous it’s exciting. But I’ve grown up having to deal with what’s real and what’s not and I just don’t care about that type of thing. I have better things to do. “I think it’s important that the only people you have in your life are people who support you and are positive.”

In February’s Cosmo, Herbal Essences’ new ambassador Mischa Barton shows us how to do Hollywood hair without a superstar salary. Check out her revealing beauty secrets:
Do you ever have bad hair days? “I definitely have bad hair days! My hair’s a bit unruly sometimes, so I condition it lots. I don’t actually mind messy hair; I quite like a ‘tousled’ look. My hair doesn’t dry completely straight. I don’t like it when it looks too perfect, so long as it feels great.”
What’s your favourite way to wear your hair? Are you quite experimental or conservative with it? “I change things around, but for the most part I just wear it down and natural – so much gets done to my hair when I’m doing red carpet things or especially when I’m acting, so when I’m not working I really like to give it a break in my free time.”
Do you feel pressure to look your best all the time, or do you have a good sense of perspective about it? “I think it’s cooler when girls look themselves, so I don’t fuss too much about the way I look – I really dress for me. I think it’s important as a girl that the way you dress and the way you look are for yourself and you’re not just trying to please other people all the time.” Continue reading…

Hollywood actress Mischa Barton is currently in Hyderabad to shoot for Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain. The actress spoke about the film, her Indian connection and her social work.
CNN-IBN: What sort of social work are you involved with?
Mischa Barton: I’ve been an ambassador for Save the Children and I’ve been working with them for quite a while now. I’ve visited Africa and have wanted to visit India for quite a while now. India is one of the biggest country’s they work with. So Africa and India are their main concerns.
CNN-IBN: How much of India have you seen?
Mischa Barton: Unfortunately not much. I’ve just been to places in Hyderabad and around. I’ve also been to south Goa when I went for 5 days of vacation. Its been an amazing experience and I think India is truly a beautiful country.
CNN-IBN: How has the experience been working with an Indian crew?
Mischa Barton: It’s very different. They are used to Bollywood here and this is a serious film about Bhopal and its got Martin Sheen.
CNN-IBN: What prompted you to sign for the film?
Mischa Barton: I’m interested in all kinds of things, I did this film for moral reasons. Also, I felt the story needed to be told, I feel that this is going to be an important film.

Actress turned handbag designer Mischa Barton tells Laura Jackson about her inspirations and love of vintage shopping.
How did Mischa Barton handbags come about?
I was approached by a manufacturer in Hong Kong who was keen to work with me, and I was attracted to the fact that they would let me design under my own name. The team was very open-minded, and let me be as funky or classic as I wanted with my designs. At the moment the collection is just available in the UK and Republic of Ireland and I like the exclusivity of that. Spring 09 is the second season I have designed for, and I feel people have more confidence in what I do now.
What can we expect from the brand for spring 09?
There are more wallets and purses this season and I’ve been working on improving the clasps. There are more studs and metalwork, which are inspired by catwalk designs. One of my favourite designs is a classic black handbag with an embossed logo. I like understated pieces.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I collaborate with other people when we are choosing fabrics and designs, so it is quite a back and forth process, but my input comes from the vintage and classic bags I own, and translating that into something modern and affordable. In terms of the brand’s flower logo, that was something I came up with when I was doodling. I think it’s quite 1970s, a bit Biba, and it shows the bag is a Mischa Barton bag without me having my name splashed all over it.
Was there anything that surprised you when you began creating the collection?
That it is an immense amount of work. It’s good though as I’m between film projects and it is a great creative outlet for me. So much of acting is spent sitting around, so it is good to be so busy.
Do you have a favourite handbag that you own?
I love my Chanel handbags, those classics can never be duplicated. My favourite is probably the first Chanel bag I ever had, a quilted baby blue one that I was given when I was 17.
Have you always wanted to be involved in fashion?
Not really. I liked fashion growing up but I had never thought about it that much until I became an actor. Suddenly everyone was paying so much attention to what I was wearing that I became really aware of it. I quickly had to learn how to use fashion to my advantage.
Do you have a favourite outfit?
I don’t really have any favourite colours or particular styles, it’s quite dependent on my mood. I do like detail and embellishment though. I like Chloé, Lanvin and Zac Posen. I wore an amazing Viktor & Rolf floor-length grey blue gown for a charity event in LA a while ago that I adored. I went to London Fashion Week this season, to Giles’ and Vivienne Westwood’s shows. I love the London designers.
Where is your favourite place to shop?
I love shopping in New York, it is so vibrant. When I come to London I go to all the usual haunts such as Topshop and Portobello Market, which are both favourites of mine. I also have a passion for vintage shopping. Where I live in the Marais in Paris there are some great vintage shops. I recently picked up a beautiful vintage Lanvin shirt dress for just 12 Euro (£10).
Who is your fashion icon and why?
Vivienne Westwood’s clothing epitomises what fashion should be. It is always beautifully cut. It’s amazing the way she throws classic and out-there pieces together.
