Mischa Barton’s car has broken down again, leaving the actress stranded for the third time in six months. The O.C. star’s beloved bright blue Cadillac suffered engine problems on Monday (November 22) as she drove through Los Angeles. The car ground to a halt in the middle of the city’s busy Robertson Boulevard, but she was able to steer the unreliable vehicle to a nearby garage in Beverly Hills. Barton left the car with mechanics and walked to her destination. She bought the car in February for $15,000 (£10,000) and the vehicle suffered two major breakdowns over the summer.

Mischa Barton has reportedly admitted that she thinks her character in The O.C. was a bad influence on young girls. The actress, who played reckless socialite Marissa Cooper in the series, said that things got “a bit out of control” because of the show and harmed society as a result. Barton told Fearne Cotton: “As fun as it was and cool as it was, it spawned all these reality TV shows like The Real O.C. and The Real Laguna or whatever. “That’s gotten a bit out of control… For me, it’s a bit funny because I feel like I almost aided the problem for young girls and for that genre.”

Rachel Bilson has revealed that she misses working on The O.C. The actress, who played Summer Roberts in all four seasons of the show, told Bang Showbiz that it was a phenomenal time in her life. She said: “I do miss Summer terribly. The O.C. was the most phenomenal time. I saw Mischa [Barton] at Cannes, but I honestly miss everyone from the show.” The actress also admitted that she was lucky to find fame after growing up, saying: “I do fall out of cars, but not because I am drunk but because I am clumsy. I think the girls who come to fame younger fall into all that partying, but I did it before I became famous. “I mean I was 21 when The O.C. started, Mischa was 16. I can’t imagine dealing with that kind of success at that age. My life may have been very different if I had started out that young.”
