Mischa Barton has denied speculation that she is planning to record a folk-rock album. It had been alleged that the former O.C. star, who previously romanced musicians Cisco Adler and Luke Pritchard, had turned to music after undergoing reported psychiatric evaluation earlier this year. However, speaking to People, a representative for the actress said: “Although she’s a big music fan, she’s never had any aspirations to [record] herself.”

Mischa Barton won’t be joining the cast of the new Melrose Place, but she did land herself another job. She’s joining the cast of A Beautiful Life, a pilot for the CW that was created by Ashton Kutcher. This latest venture from Ashton is a scripted drama about a group of models living together in a coed residence in New York City. Mischa will play a supermodel named Sonja, who is trying to keep up with the rest of the girls. Mischa tells E! News, “The show will be racy, drugs, drinking, things like that.”

Actress Mischa Barton has launched her new official website by posting a photo of a hat she knitted for a child as part of her work with Save the Children. “I knitted [the] cap a few weeks ago, which was then delivered to Ethiopia and given to an expectant mother who was waiting to give birth in her incredibly primitive home,“ wrote Barton. “The baby was delivered with the help of a birth attendant that had been trained by Save the Children. The birth attendant put the cap on the newborn’s head in order to prevent hypothermia.“ The Knit One, Save One campaign was launched last month and asked some of Hollywood’s leading ladies to create one baby cap to keep a newborn warm during the first critical hours and days after birth. Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, Mischa Barton and Vanessa Hudgens are among a host of female celebrities who have designed T-shirts for their favourite charities. The ladies have all created her own ‘Spread the Love’ T-shirt with designers at Los Angeles based fashion line 2 LOVE, which will be sold at $50 (GBP27) each. A portion of the shirts’ proceeds will be donated to the star’s chosen cause – Cyrus’ design will benefit the 1736 Family Crisis Center, while profits from Alba’s creation will go to help the StepUp Women’s Network.And Alba revelled in the task. She says, “I had a blast being creative and designing this tee shirt, and I know whenever I see these tees on women, I’ll be reminded to ‘Spread the Love’!” Actress Alyssa Milano has also put her creative talents on display for the charity drive, and she is donating her T-shirt’s proceeds to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) – of which she is an ambassador.
