Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, Mischa Barton and Vanessa Hudgens are among a host of female celebrities who have designed T-shirts for their favourite charities. The ladies have all created her own ‘Spread the Love’ T-shirt with designers at Los Angeles based fashion line 2 LOVE, which will be sold at $50 (GBP27) each. A portion of the shirts’ proceeds will be donated to the star’s chosen cause – Cyrus’ design will benefit the 1736 Family Crisis Center, while profits from Alba’s creation will go to help the StepUp Women’s Network. And Alba revelled in the task. She says, “I had a blast being creative and designing this tee shirt, and I know whenever I see these tees on women, I’ll be reminded to ‘Spread the Love’!” Actress Alyssa Milano has also put her creative talents on display for the charity drive, and she is donating her T-shirt’s proceeds to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) – of which she is an ambassador. She tells People.com, “I love the idea behind 2 LOVE clothing. It is fun to mix fashion and charity. The cute tank makes a statement, and helps UNICEF increase public awareness of the challenges facing the world’s children and create positive change around the globe.”

The O.C. star Mischa Barton has a hectic film schedule of late, with movies such as Homecoming, Walled In and Don’t Fade Away coming down the pike. But her most pressing project right now has nothing to do with red-carpet premieres or box-office receipts. The actress has lent her name to and joined Save the Children’s Board of Celebrities for the Rewrite the Future campaign. The effort is expected to bring in millions of dollars in donations for impoverished and war-stricken children. The cause has taken on personal significance for Mischa since visiting school children in the poverty-stricken township in Soweto. “I visited a primary school in Soweto, where a lot of the children are orphans and there is a high incidence of AIDS,” Barton reveals. “I helped prepare and serve lunch to the children; it’s just simple maize and for many it’s the only meal they get. We chatted and I took part in their class. They are heartbreakingly beautiful children!” Barton hopes that her work with Save the Children will result in a new irrigation system for Soweto, along with tools to allow the township to grow its own food. Notes Barton, “I feel so privileged that I could just meet [the children] and hope to make a difference!” Thanks to CelebBuzz for this info and the pics!
