Rumer Willis knows a thing or two about growing up in the spotlight, so when she hears about friends going off the deep end, she can’t help but feel sorry for them. Rumer, whose parents are Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, admits it’s really hard for young stars to not get sucked into the Hollywood lifestyle. “I do feel very sorry for Mischa Barton,” Rumer told Glamour magazine. “This whole world is very enticing. “When you start getting famous it’s exciting. But I’ve grown up having to deal with what’s real and what’s not and I just don’t care about that type of thing. I have better things to do. “I think it’s important that the only people you have in your life are people who support you and are positive.”

Mischa Barton has denied speculation that she is planning to record a folk-rock album. It had been alleged that the former O.C. star, who previously romanced musicians Cisco Adler and Luke Pritchard, had turned to music after undergoing reported psychiatric evaluation earlier this year. However, speaking to People, a representative for the actress said: “Although she’s a big music fan, she’s never had any aspirations to [record] herself.”

Mischa Barton clearly isn’t bothered about getting into shape. The actress — currently in New York filming her new show The Beautiful Life — was seen clutching a bag of McDonald’s before she went into the Equinox gym in SoHo. “She had a bag of McDonald’s in hand and was complaining to someone who looked like a trainer,” a source told the New York Daily News newspaper. The former O.C. star was then overheard pleading, “Do I have to?”

Mischa Barton has denied reports she’s hired a ’sober coach’ to help her stay on the straight and narrow. It had been claimed that producers on the troubled star’s new TV show The Beautiful Life had hired someone to stay with her at all times following her hospitalization under involuntary psychiatric hold at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in July. “Mischa is doing great since she returned to work, but after a chat with show bosses she agreed she would appreciate some extra support,” a source said. But a rep for Barton insists reports of a sober coach are “not true.”

Mischa Barton has revealed why she was placed under psychiatric hold in July — she was going through a “tough spot” and she didn’t know how to deal with it. “I went through a tough spot where everything compounded on me, and it was like a perfect storm, like everything was happening to me at once,” the 23-year-old tells Time Out New York. The former O.C. star says before she was scheduled to start filming the CW show The Beautiful Life, “I was traveling abroad for contract stuff and I went through a terrible surgery — a wisdom tooth surgery, all four removed. It was a nightmare. “I’ve never had surgery before — it all went wrong and I had to have a second surgery and it almost delayed shooting because it was a nightmare to me, because I couldn’t deal with the thought of not getting there on time. So with the travel, and surgery and prep for the show — it was hell.” “I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while,” Barton added. “Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom about things and have to get the most stressed out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed out and couldn’t handle everything, and now I feel really in control.” The actress denies it was a mental breakdown, but admits the ordeal “was pretty bad.” “The funny thing is, if all this happened in New York, no one would care,” she says. “New York lets you be who you are, and people aren’t as judgmental. I’m so glad to be back here.”
