Mischa Barton insists she’s no “bitch” — she says she’s still fairly normal, despite her fame. “My family keep me grounded,” she tells Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper. “I still take the subway and do my own laundry. Well, not all of the time, but I’m not a bitch. I enjoy having a normal life.” Barton admits her life was “crazy” when she shot to fame in The OC several years ago. “The OC was a crazy four years for me, so when it ended it was kind of bitter-sweet,” she said. “But it was syndicated everywhere in the world. I sometimes wish I was just a bit-part actor so I could get on with my life and my acting. As I get older I’ll try to step back from the fame thing. “Every day the paparazzi intrude into my life. I can’t believe I can be that interesting. I try to be graceful about it. I’m not a rude person, but it can be difficult not to unleash your angry side.”

Lindsay Lohan has no shame! The troubled Mean Girls star reportedly tried to steal Mischa Barton’s role in TV show The Beautiful Life when she was hospitalized earlier this year. Although Lindsay kept sending Mischa messages of support — she was secretly trying to nick her job, the National Enquirer reports. “Lindsay was contacting the show’s producers to let them know SHE was available to play Mischa’s part in case she couldn’t come back to work,” a source said. “Mischa was furious. “She feels Lindsay she be looking for her own acting gigs, not encroaching on her territory.”

Mischa Barton is feeling “stronger” following her recent reported breakdown. The former O.C. star — who was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold order and taken to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in July — insists she has now got her life back on track. “I had a bad few weeks,” she told the UK’s Grazia magazine. “But you know when you are not sick anymore and you feel stronger. “You know what? People do turn themselves around in a matter of a few weeks. People do get better, things get better. I’m OK now. I think the hospital visit was blown out of proportion. It was made out to seem like, you know, you are having a complete breakdown and your life is ending.” Mischa also thanked Ashton Kutcher –- who is producing her new TV show The Beautiful Life –- and his wife Demi Moore for helping her move on from her ordeal. “There were all these questions and speculation, ‘Is she OK? Is she ready to work?’” Barton said. “But Ashton is an amazing guy and such a great producer. He has been so supportive recently.”

Mischa Barton insists she hasn’t lost her marbles. The actress — who was recently released from hospital after being placed under involuntary psychiatric hold — says people think she’s “unstable” following the incident. “I’m getting sick of answering questions about it,” Mischa moaned. “I just had a bad time of year and now it’s all over and done with, and I’m just very happy to be feeling happy again and back on top of it and not so worried about everything. “It was just too much to handle for me at the time. “One stay in the hospital was turned into this huge ‘She’s lost her marbles!’ thing, and people look at me like I’m unstable and they should probably cross the street when they see me.”
